Set in more than 130 acres of stunning Devon woodland, Finlake Holiday Park has something for all the family. There’s a lot that holiday home owners and guests can do at this place. We’re talking outdoor pools, a waterpark, a huge spa, walking trails to high ropes and there are even opportunities for fishing. The site has been growing over the last few years, but one thing they were missing was an indoor play area for younger children.
Not only did the team at the holiday park want to create a more engaging environment for young children, but they also wanted to use it to increase revenue too. They were after a solution that they could offer for free to holiday makers, but one that could be chargeable for day visitors. It had to be something exciting enough to entice more families to book a holiday at Finlake. It also had to be worth the money that paying day visitors would be charged. Enter The Play Company.
We worked closely with the Finlake team to pinpoint exactly what they needed. The play area would be going inside a wooden cabin so we came to site and worked out how we could maximise the space. We got a great feel for the place and decided to work in a fun, woodland theme.
One of the great things about Finlake is that there is so much opportunity for guests to give their bodies some exercise. With that in mind we designed a structure that’s set over several levels so that children can crawl, slide, climb and squeeze their way through as they go. It’s a lot of fun. The baby area includes sensory panels for little ones to interact with and work on fine-tuning their senses too.
The soft play area has indeed created that extra revenue stream that the team were after. It’s attracting guests all year round and giving families with younger children a greater reason to book a Finlake holiday.
